Just tried registering on vBcom and entered a value for 'vBulletin Version' (purposely not filling out all fields to error out) and it did not remember my selection, so it seems to be a bug. I didn't see a report in the vBcom tracker for this (though maybe I missed it) so please post that at http://tracker.vbulletin.com/ so the developers can take a look.
