Default Who Else Is Addicted to Pimping Their Site Out?

It's been 4 months since I've started my site http://the8thlegion.com

This is the first site I've created. I knew nothing about being a webmaster but I knew a lot of people and social-networking. I've been on a lot of forums since 2000. It's like I'm taking all the knowledge and experience I've had as a member of different forums and putting them to use. There were tons of stuff I hated to see on forums and a lot of stuff I liked. One thing I hated and still hate is having to pay for exclusive membership. I'd rather spend money on something real.

I can't stop adding modifications and customizing my site. I'm addicted! I have an eye twitch that won't go away because of it and there is no ready over-the-counter remedies except to get some rest and no caffeine. I'm starting to feel burnt out though. The minute I'm off work I wanna crash. A lot of times I'll go home and head straight to bed then I'll wake up and start working on my site until it's time to go to work again in the morning. I eat one or two times a day. This eye twitch is bugging the sh!t out of me.

My friends keep calling me. I won't hang out. I'm focused! I won't stop until I reach this vision I have in my head of what I want the site to be. I think I'll reach that vision in four more months. My goals are pretty simple but the execution is complicated due to the fact that I have a job and go to college. I've been really stubborn about trying to learn everything my own and I do not like to have to pay for services or modifications unless it's really needed. I do as much as I can that is legal. Recruiting people is extremely hard especially if your a little anti-social like I am.

I'd be careful of going crazy adding mods and hacks
it's an easy way to get an exploit

btw, the site is closed to guest..

ah thx, I just saw the message and assumed it was a "this is closed" or "you don't have permissions to view" type thing

personally, I'm not a fan at all of those "force you to read" hacks and I doubt they're good for SEO

Octavius, it is good to take a look at your modifications once in a while and see what is really useful and what is clutter. And also if you have any addons that do not work well.

I find your forumindex some confusing as there is too much information.
I would not force new members to read that thread. It will only drive people away.
Where you can, try to apply K.I.S.S. Not every hack will contribute to a better user experience.

I run more than 60 addons and I have tried out more mods than I can remember, so I can understand where you are coming from.

I've added mods that's screwed up my site before. I back up my site often as a result lol Site's not closed.

I hate 'Force-Read' threads as I've had it done to me before on other sites but in this case I feel it's necessary to see if it will increase traffic since my site is still new. I'm not sure how long it will be before I see some results so I probably won't take it down any time soon.

Thank youuuu I study your threads. I may not understand 3/4ths of what your talking about but the little knowledge I've gleaned has help me go a long way.

I agree that there is too much stuff in the forum index and that Force Read can run off members. After some further thought, I turned it off. Thanks for the advice.
