Upgrading Questions...
Hey all,
I dont have too much experience with upgrading my vBulletin software, so I was hoping you guys could help me. 1. I am currently running 4.0.2 and the latest release is 4.0.8. Is there risk in upgrading directly from .2 to .8? 2. Is there a one-stop solutions to backing up my vB board? In the past, I have just backed up all of the files from my server to my local PC, and then exported the database through phpMyAdmin. Is this sufficient? I have never had to restore anything. *Knocks on Wood* 3. I would like to remove the version number from the footer of my site. Any way that I can do this? I know I am not supposed to get rid of the copyright info, but I feel like it is a security risk for people to know what version I am running. Thanks in advance. The first question is really my biggest! - shoop |

1. There is no risk, just close your board and upgrade.
2. If you have cPanel, you can use the backup feature but I recommend you do it the traditional way. --to save time, compress the forum directory and then download it. 3. Edit the phrase: powered_by_vbulletin . (The forum version can also be found by viewing the source code). I am not sure if editing the "version generator" is allowed. |
