There are a ton of basic unanswered questions both on this site and vbulletin.com. It seems that vbulletin no longer is providing support to customers.... ARe they losing business to all the free and better options out there and have had to lay off? I know I would switch to something else if my forum was not so heavily customized but I am stuck with the crap support.

Hmmm, not sure why my post count keeps going up around here if I'm not helping. Oh well. I will admit that I skip over questions that have been asked and answered over and over and over again. I skip most question where a simple search would answer the question. I'd rather go help the users who have questions that are new where they can't find the answer with a search.
Also, you do realize that vb.org is a site run by the users for the users? |

I've been watching virutally every day for a while now (the version 3 sections anyway) and I have to disagree that there are "a ton of basic unanswered questions". I think most of the basic questions get answered, and I think the ones that don't are either impossible to understand or pretty difficult to answer.

I run both free and VB software on a number of sites, if you think getting support for VB is hard you really want to try and find answers for some of the free stuff out there.
On the whole VB support is fantastic, and to have people like Lynne and a few others on here who can talk VB code in their sleep is invaluable. Of all the hurdles I have had since running VB software I have found the answers in a search 95% of the time, or enough to point me in the right direction. A lot of my answers have been supplied by other board owners/admins on here and I try to help others when time permits. Don't forget to use Google as well, that way you get results from a number of sites. |

Well I see some help around here. But I assumed the best way is using the support ticket system?
I have to agree support on the forum seems low. But I know you guys get a lot of tickets to go through and what not. So it's gotta be tough. Though maybe there needs to be one person assigned that doesn't do support tickets, but helps only via forum. |

You can't put in a support ticket regarding anything you would ask on this site, vbulletin.org. Support doesn't help with modifications.
Support is getting out into the vb.com forums more often now. When vB4 was first released, there were a LOT of tickets put in all day long regarding bugs and other issues with the release. There was only time to answer tickets, no time for the forums. Now days, there aren't nearly as many tickets being put in regarding bugs/issues, and there is much more time for support to hit the forums. But, we do still occasionally miss threads (many of us look for threads with no replies and if you bump your own thread, then it no longer shows up in the search for replyless threads). |
