Hi all,
I need to add to the registration terms and conditions, but I'm unable to find where to do it. Is it in the admin CP under templates somewhere, or do I need to find it somewhere in the file manager of the site CP? I'm using 3.8. Thank in advance! |

It looks like it's a phrase named "forum_rules_registration" (so probably use "Languages & Phrases" -> "Search in Phrases" to find it).

Thank you kh. Err...I still can't find it.
![]() ETA- Scratch that, I found forum_rules_registration (changed the search term to just registration), but the only thing it's showing me is the text requesting agreement to the terms. I can't edit the actual text either, it says "You cannot change the variablename or text to insert; you can only change the translations of the phrase." I, um, don't know what that means. :erm: |

No problem. In the admin CP select "Languages & Phrases" from the left, then click on "Search in Phrases". In the "Search for Text" box enter "Forum Rules" (wthout the quotes). In the results, it should be the second one.
Maybe the problem was that if you just enter the phrase name it won't find it because a little further down in the "Search in..." section, "Phrase Text Only" is selected by default. ETA: yeah, we did cross post - I wrote that before you added to the above. |

Thanks again, kh. I think that we we cross posted, I was editing while you were posting. I edited my last post to add that I found it, but couldn't edit the text and it contains the text for agreeing to the terms, but not the terms themselves. I swear, I'm not really as dense as I probably sound right now.
![]() Any suggestions on what I can do next, or what I'm missing? Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it. |

Well, when I do the search I described above I find the forum_rules_registration phrase (among other results) and the text starts "Registration to this forum is free!...". Is that the text you're talking about? If not, then I guess I misunderstood.
If it is: then I can click on the "Edit" button that appears to the right and it brings me to a screen where I'm able to edit that text and save it. If you can't, then I suppose it's possible that there's something different about your setup. BTW, I'm not an expert about this stuff, I just thought I knew the answer to your question. |

Ah, I do think we're talking about two separate things that are related. The file you pointed me to is the agreement to the rules, but it's the actual rules I need to edit. Your direction helped though, the rules_description actually came up just under the rules_registrartion. So, now I've found what I'm looking for, but when I click edit, the only text box that comes up is under "translation" Do I copy the text to there and add to it, or is the translate box not where I do it?

Ah...yeah, I see that now. I wasn't really looking, I just figured that since it started with "Forum Rules" that it was the actual rules.
I don't know why you can't edit - maybe someone else does. When I press that edit button I get this (and I'm able to edit and save it): |

Ohhh, there lies my confusion. Mine comes up without the edit box. Here's what I get...

OK, I think I figured it out - the reason I can edit that field and you can't is because I'm using my test site and I have it set to debug mode. According to the help on that screen, you can't change the default, only the translation. So yeah, I guess you want to edit in the lower part of the window.
But I'm not sure - you may want to read the manual to be sure. |
