Latest Threads on Main page
I am trying to make the main page when visitors enter the Latest threads page to make it more interesting for the visitors. Like "yourdomain.com/search.php?do=getdaily"
But I am having problems in finding ideas to solve this logical problem. Maybe someone has a solution. I would as well keep the forum.php. |

Is there even a question here ? What are you trying to do ? If you are using the cms you can add latest threads or just for forum just add sidebar and put latest thread block.

Thx for the answer mmoore5553, actually im trying to avoid the cms so that it looks like the usual forum appearance. Just a simple yourdomain.com/search.php?do=getdaily on index.
I wanted to now try to edit the index.php and take out the layout of the forum. But I dont know what code to add inisde the content to get the latest threads. |

I'm looking for the same idea.
I'd like to replicate the boxes that vbulletin.org uses on the left column (poll, latest posts by forum, etc) and I want to put them on the main page of my website, not in the forums area. Technically they are located on different servers, but my main site has access to the forums database. Thanks, ~ B |

@tiga2 - Seriously, thanks for the response and at least trying.
@everyone else: I have searched and read everything I can find here already. Not looking for something to show up on the forums home page. Here is my setup (flame me if you want, delete it if you have to, I'm going to post my url because the message isn't getting through any other way). My site is: www.PaintBall.com My forum is: forums.PaintBall.com (different server) I want the latest forum info on my main site www.PaintBall.com. Here is how I modified what they do at joomla to support vBulletin. The key is external.php. I'd love to do the same type of thing with a poll. Anyone know how to use external.php (or something similar) to get at a poll? GL ~ B Code:
/** * @ Module Display Latest Threads Title's of VBulletin * @ version 1.7.0 * @ Copyright 2008 masih.ad@gmail.com * @ package mod_LastVBF * @ Released under GNU/GPL License **/ #-------------------------------------- # Parameters #-------------------------------------- $url_js = 'http://forums.paintball.com'; $by_vbf = 'By'; $in_vbf = 'In'; $title_vbf = 'Title'; $author_vbf = 'Author'; $forum_id = ""; $tr1 = '#e3e3e3'; $tr2 = '#FFFFFF'; $linkcolor = 'Blue'; $infocolor = '#e3e3e3'; $marqueebg = "Silver"; $fsize = 10; $max_ch = 75; $module_style = 0; $height_m = 90; $t_number = 10; $direction_m = 0; if ($direction_m == 0) { $mdir = "up" ; } if ($direction_m == 1) { $mdir = "down" ; } $t_num = $t_number-1; ?> <!-- BEGIN: LastVBF Module --> <script src="http://forums.paintball.com/external.php?forumids=<?php echo $forum_id ?>&type=JS"></script> <?php if ($url_js == '#'){ echo ("You should write your forum url in the Module parameters"); } ?> <ul style="height:235px;text-align:left;padding-left:10px;overflow: scroll;"> <script type="text/javascript"> for (i=0; i<=<?php echo $t_num ?>; i++) { if (threads[i].title.length > <?php echo $max_ch ?>) { threads[i].title = threads[i].title.substring(0, <?php echo $max_ch ?>) + "..."; } document.write('<li class="newsnopic"><a href="<?php echo $url_js ?>/showthread.php?t=', threads[i].threadid, '" target="_blank" ><h3 class="hdr3">' , threads[i].title, '</h3></a>'); document.write('<span><?php echo $by_vbf ?> :', threads[i].poster, '</span>| <span style=\"font-weight:bold\"><?php echo $in_vbf ?> : ', threads[i].threadtime, '</span></li>'); } </script> |
