With Twitter and their privacy issues as of late, they are going to end up being a passing fad.

I have not followed up on trends but you have all different types of websites do you think there all falling in visits due to the social networking.

I have to admit even finding good content on topics is to come by that is why i will always look for a forums on the subject but i was reading an articles on blogger s that there seeing a trend of people who write blogs will read other peoples blogs but there not getting much new visitors and the new generation are looking at social networking to get there message out. Food For thought. but it still looks good for the use of forums.

Twitter is a failure of biblical proportions in that it frequently provides false information from non-credible and unverifiable sources. If anything, I find that to be beneficial in that those seeking credible information frequent my forums. For me, Twitter eliminates those who believe everything they read. If anything, I should consider writing them a Thank You letter.

haven't noticed twitter/facebook taking traffic away from my site , like all new technology you need to learn to adapt to it , find out how you can make it work with your site , or figure out what you can offer that the social networks don't

did you mean "Facebook"
Twitter hasn't had any privacy issue, Facebook on the other hand..

which neither are going anywhere anytime soon

I would like a twitter login for my currently 3.8 site, I know 4.x has facebook, but an openID login would be so much nicer

Maybe you're just not following the right people
Twitter is full of very useful info and can be a great source for one on one customer service.

I don't see either Facebook or Twitter hurting my site though.

Yes, facebook is who I meant on the privacy issue. My bad. Sorry.

As far as Twitter goes, ProSportsForums called it correctly on the "false information from non-credible and unverifiable sources" which have plagued it lately.

Yes, there are actually people that can be paid to "post up" your board. I've seen the services out there, but I really don't think it's worth it.

In a lot of ways I think that Twitter is actually helping forums. It gets the word out faster for people trying to start them up, and helps others from being able to monopolize the system.

Twitter has never worked for me. You need to have many contacts on twitter to make it work.
Forums are a way to find those contacts for people.
So there will always be a reason to run forums.

can u prove that mathematically? the benefits of Twitter can be applied to many situations, how can you explain that two different systems born in two different decades are now a perfect match?
