Getting people to register?
I have a forum where I get a few search engine hits however these people browse rather than register.
If I turn off the "view forum" on the unregistered user group, will that also disallow search engines to trawl my website?? I was thinking it would encourage people to register to view the content rather than just have a look Thanks!! any help please? |

Yes, you could block all Guest access, but that would block the search bots too which would be forum suicide.
Try Limited Guest Viewing -- Motivate Guests to Register instead. It lets guests browse long enough to get interested, and doesn't block the bots at all. Don't make the mistake of thinking anyone is going to register just to look at your forum. |

I hate this problem... I get tons of people throughout the day but hardly any register and no one posts anything.
