Default Help needed to setup special editing permissions for a user

I need to setup a user to be able to edit/delete own threads. I setup a special user group for this user and allowed the user to edit/delete own threads. However the 'Time Limit on Editing of Posts' in 'Message Posting and Editing Options' is over riding this.

Is there a way of giving this particular user special permissions to edit/delete own posts?

Many thanks in advance for all help given.

well it doesnt sound like they have permission to edit posts

so you would need to turn these options off in admincp/settings/options/managed posting and editing options

or put him in a moderator class so he could use inline moderation, not sure but i think moderators can do that

hunm has me wondering now

If I set time limit on editing posts to '0', it will mean that all registered users will be able to edit their posts indefinitely. I've set this to 30mins so normal registered users have a chance to edit their posts.

Now if I give this user Moderator class, then the user would have access to edit/delete anything thread/post on the forums.

I just want to set one particular usergroup to be able to edit/delete/close their own threads without giving them Moderator class.

The only way a setting could be overridden is if you didn't remove them from other Usergroups that they belong to.

Take them out of the original group, add them to the new group with the higher permissions, that will work.

No matter what usergroup this user is in, the user still cannot edit posts after 30mins unless set to moderator because I set time limit on editing posts to '30'

Anyone know of a way of sorting this?

Dont think its possible unless you want to edit the core vb files itself to bypass that time limit. Correct me if I am wrong though
