new threads not indexed by google after 4.0 upgrade...
i can't figure out what's going on but after we upgraded my forum to vb4.0, none of the new threads that are being created are being indexed by google!
obviously this is hurting the traffic a lot. any suggestions where to look at to fix this? thanks! |

its tricky seems that 4.0 is not very sEO friendly
there are some mods though a mod also you have to enable all the seo stuff in setup of course friendly URL friendly archive you can get a mod that will convert the forum page name to its own unique name that seems to help, and taggers that if you control them seem to help in SEO, but i have found the same thing. google just don't like vb 4. so i don't run their ads anymore lol, if everyone did maybe we could get some actual seo in the INTERNET instead of google pay per click placement |

i think there should also be one called sitemap index. xml.gz or something like that
that would be the file thats actually read buy the sitemapxml file in the root directory. you should make sure that the directory you have made for those files are cmod 777 and that the file you use to submit is the one in your root it will be the one in the same directory as forum.php also when you set up that xmlsitemap generator it will ask for that path it wont exist and will have to be created and cmod to 777 --------------- Added 14 Jun 2010 at 20:12 --------------- but i dont use vbs sitemap i use an outside sitemap generator so cant tell you the exact setup any more --------------- Added 14 Jun 2010 at 20:17 --------------- should have these 3 vbulletin_sitemap_forum_0_29.xml.gz vbulletin_sitemap_index.xml.gz <------this one sitemap reads vbulletin_sitemap_thread_1_51.xml.gz and the one submitted is this file in root xmlsitemap.php |
