DownloadsII
DownloadsII is a download database that integrates into vBulletin. It allows you to upload files, add images to them, create categories, link to external files - and more. It is very flexible and has many options.
It's also coded 100% XHTML 1.0 Transitional valid, just like vBulletin itself.
Instructions & Support
Requires vBulletin 4.0.4 or higher. Not fully compatible with lower vB 4 versions.
It works fine with both the new editor in vB 4.1.4 or higher and the old one in previous vB versions.
Read the instructions in the next two posts before installing/upgrading this mod!
You can find an installation/upgrade manual in the zip package (Readme.txt).
I try to answer most questions asked in this thread. Please don't send any pm's if I don't ask for them. Don't forget to click the install link, so you will receive important update notifications.
Screenshots & Live demo
At the bottom of this post, you can find some screenshots of the front-end and back-end (AdminCP part) of the DownloadsII software.
You can find a live demo on my own site: Minatica.be Downloads (Dutch).
Though keep in mind that we are running a restyled and modified version of it.
Changelog (version 6.0.9)
Jelle
Added support for vB 4.1.8 bit processing with 'each' construct (backwards compatible)
Fixed comma listing for vB 4.1.8 (using "old" method)
Older changelogs are included in the zip package.
Help!!! I can't upload large files??
This is probably the most asked question. It's mostly caused by some default PHP settings: check "PHP Max Post Size" and "PHP Maximum Upload Size" at your AdminCP home.
Then have a look at this post for the solution to up these values.
Also have a look at this post at vB.com (but ignore the MySQL part as DownloadsII is only using the file system).
Add-ons
There are currently no official add-ons. Unofficial add-ons are listed below.
is it at all possible to remove/or even add a setting for the &actionhash=** even if just for the &act=down, as we post our links with the "&act=down" for quicker access to downloading the files but now that show's a security token invalid error
any possibilities for this?
excellent add-on btw, as you already know

tried that - still no luck
I'm trying to add the download links to an app I'm making, but can't do that as it is now (it worked previously without the &actionhash so I'm wondering if there's any workaround)
any ideas?
thanks in advance
Would it be possible to have blocks with latest files to show up on a vBaCMS page?
Like the "Latest postings" etc? Those are Widgets, so my guess is that anyone with the right coding knowledge should be able to develop one separately.

This may help other new DownloadsII users to the Import tool:
In ACP => DownloadsII => Import
Absolute path to the download directory." The path on the web server to the directory with the files you want to import.
So type in your directory path, In my case the web server local Win-IIS drive X:\websites\mysite\uploads\
Hit the import button.
If the script finds the directry and files you will next see a list of all files in the directory. If the path is invalid, there is no error message, you just get an emty list.
Add file name (title) author info etc, select which category to import to and fill in the check box for the files you want to import
Hit the Imports button
After a while, you will then see a list "The following files were successfully imported:...."

The absolute path to this script is X
Include a trailing slash.
Om my first attemt, I stopped there, as it is always a bit scary to hit a button (Import) without knowing what happnes next.
But past that stage, the Import function is a plain, simple to use, straight forward tool. Much appreciated. Made my day
I would suggest these changes / additions to the first Import page page:
"Absolute path to the download directory." Change this to "Absolute path on the web server to the directoy you want to import."
And add further down on the first page: "In the next step you will be presented a list of available files and you will have the possibility to select and confirm which files to import."
Like the "Latest postings" etc? Those are Widgets, so my guess is that anyone with the right coding knowledge should be able to develop one separately.
It's not their product?
mp4sverige mentions vBa CMS, as in vbadvanced CMS. He's referring to the modules (similar to the vB CMS widgets, but not at all the same). Unless he accidentally tacked on a 'a' on the end of vB.
There's a module request forum over at vBA, so that would be one proper place to send the request.
I do like that Import phrasing change suggestion. Seconded.
