What uses more bandwidth, Database or vBulletin Frontend?
Just as the title states, I would like to know on average what normally consumes more bandwidth, the database or the vBulletin Frontend? I wanna put my forum on two different servers so I need to know which one uses more bandwidth so that I can put that on the faster server that allows more bandwidth.
TIA |

There is no simple answer to this question as it will depend on a lot of factors and the pages mostly visited.
Monitoring the connections for some on your production forums is the only way i can think of to find out. |

Well how about we use vBulletin.org for example. What in your opinion uses more bandwidth, the php/html pages themselves or the database queries?

As i replied before, there is no generic answer. You will need to monitor the site to get information first.
It will greatly depend on the type of users, content and storage method. |

vb.org (& the other vb sites) all run on one server, so the question is meaningless for them.
Unless you have a very big, very busy site, you dont need to split them, and when you reach that position, you should be on servers where it doesnt matter anyway, they should at the very least be on 100m/bit unlimited connections. |

And if using multiple servers make sure they are locally connected to eachother and not over an public/internet connection.
