Forum Cloud : just like a Tag Cloud, but for forums.
I propose a "Forum Cloud" : just like a Tag Cloud, but for forums.
Why ? For those boards that have a large number of forums, especially nested forums. It's hard for users to scroll the entire damn long list, and it's near impossible, if the forums are too nested. The forum cloud would allow the user to see all the forums in one small portion of the screen. see the .jpg |

Q: is there a Hack that will display all the forum names (with links) in a tight space ?

useless idea IMO
if your site has 100's of forums, then your "forum cloud" will have 100's of links in it Very messy -Bs |

Why don't you use the sub-forum organiser plugins or built in features to make your subforums smaller and hence fit more on your FORUMHOME?

Using examples that don't make sense in the real world, doesn't further discussions regarding the design of actual forums. You also don't design forum software based on outlier forums with "100s of forums". You design forum software based on what most users want. I argue that seeing the names of all the forums on one page will enable users to post in the right forums. A long winded explanation of what a forum is ... won't help most newbies. As well, regulars know where to post. I use "New Posts" features of vBulletin, but I almost NEVER use "Last Post". |
