14 Years Since The Srebrenica Genocide
Monday, July 11, 2009 marks the 14-th anniversary of the beginning of the biggest massacre in Europe following World War II. On that day, Serbs began a liquidation of several thousand Bosnian men and boys from the world's first United Nations Safe Area - Srebrenica. An exact number of those executed will probably never be known, however, it has been proven that in Potocari, more than 3000 residents of Srebrenica lost their lives; the total number of victims is likely three times that figure.
The Srebrenica enclave was a UN protected zone. After being granted permission from international troops, the civilian population caught in the town was evacuated in the direction of Tuzla. But although the commander of Serbian Army, General Ratko Mladic, with his military honor, guaranteed the security of all those evacuated, members of his army separated all men over the age of 15 and, without trial, sentenced them to death by execution. In the eyes of the law, the massacre in Srebrenica is considered an act of genocide. It shamed the entire Serb people, but also the international troops responsible for the safety of the population within the safe haven. To date, Karadzic and some second-rate perpetrators have been sent to the Hague to answer for this crime. Mladic is still not within the range of justice. Never Forget the Muslim Holocaust in Bosnia or any other Holocaust. |

People are quick to speak and judge, without having all the facts; Even in this day and age of information. What a shame. |

Hi Cyb,
It's really a shame how the Srebrenica massacre gets the mention only once a year during "anniversaries". Quote:
Only because majority of Bosnian population is of Muslim faith, it doesn't mean they are Islamic terrorists. Bosnia war ended in 1995, while KLA fought serb forces in Kosova war which started in 1998 Serbs have started 4 wars in ex-Yugoslavia. They started the wars in Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Kosova. And they lost them all. I can go all night long bringing up more facts on table. Good night. |

^^ Again, for example, Slovenia attacked a Yugoslavian tank-convoy (at a bridge, if I'm not mistaking), which had been unarmed (without ammunition, serving only as "support"). P.S. Respect.. Last edited by Marco van Herwaarden : 24 Jul 2009 at 12:25. Reason: disrespectful P.P.S. The whole, entire reason, why I'm even bothering to write about this, is ignorance. Most, if not all (modern) wars are crafted solely for the purpose of financial gain of certain states (nations, that is) and people always try to justify (them, the wars) with some other reasons (please excuse the reference, but think: oil in Kuwait). It isn't fair, to humanity in general, to jump to these wrongful assumptions. That's all I'm sayin' & the rest is, really, just a tragedy; no matter what side we're on. Death and destruction is not something that I look upon gladly and hopefully, one of these days, we can start harvesting energy from Mars, or somewhere else and actually stop all this (these?) mindless killings. Thanks for your time, best wishes and regards to all; and RIP to all of the victims and their families. |
