VB 4 Album Upload Problems
Hi,
A few members of my forum have asked me about the album feature if VB4 and if they can use it to create their own albums. I have tried to use the feature myself, but I have run into problems with uploading photo's from my hard drive as it lets me select files fine, but after they have been selected for upload and the progress bar has completed it shows this screen: I have clicked on the exclamation mark, but it won't tell me what the exact fault is. I suspect it might be something in my admin CP that specifies upload file sizes(this file was 2.8mb in size) Would it be more preferable to have a website which I currently use for image hosting like Photobucket used for this feature, or my own servers space to host photo's on? At present my forum members use Photobucket to upload images into the forum page, but I'd like to avoid using this for the album feature as a lot of my members find posting pics from Photobucket a challenge. Regards, Mike. --------------- Added [DATE]1269597430[/DATE] at [TIME]1269597430[/TIME] --------------- Hi again, Further to my original post, I managed to find this in the File Upload Manager section: From what I see the JPG/JPEG filetype max filesize is very small, would changing this to allow filesizes of a maximum of 4MB have an effect on my websites performance? Most of my members would occasionally use this(I have about 25 members that visit as and when and most of the time my forum is pretty quiet) Mike. |

Probably not, with that small an audience. But it could sure be trouble if you had 25 concurrent users. Also, don't store files in the db.
And I'd set max dimensions for jpg's otherwise idiots will start uploading megapixel images that will totally screw layouts and things. |

Somewhere in Options. Try the manual, or just poke around. http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/
