Default CMS Grid Issues and left column forum list

I did post this over at vb.com, but apparently getting an answer there is quite useless. Here is a copy and paste of my two questions, hopefully some of you coding gurus have some insight.

So I am wanting to utilize the default grid in my CMS layout, but am having problems with how it is laying things out. I want the left and right columns to be set at approx 240px and the center main content area to be fluid. I tried using the wizard to acomplish this, but didnt work. Here is the default code that is geting the closest to what I want. Problem with the default code is that the right column is cut off just ever so slightly. Can someone take a look at this code and let me know what I am doing wrong. The site is themuscleforum.com
Code:
<style type="text/css">
#gridl3_container {
    position: relative;
    clear: both;
    float: left;
    width: 100%;
    overflow: hidden;
}

#gridl3_midshift {
    float: left;
    width: 200%;
    position: relative;
    left: 170px;
}

#gridl3_rightshift {
    float: left;
    width: 100%;
    position: relative;
    left: 50%;
    margin-left: -340px;
}

#gridl3_midmask {
    float: right;
    width: 50%;
    position: relative;
    right: 100%;
}

#gridl3_midcol {
    margin-left: 340px;
    width: 100%;
    overflow: hidden;
}

#gridl3_leftcol {
    float: left;
    width: 170px;
    position: relative;
    margin-left: -50%;
    left: 170px;
    overflow: hidden;
}

#gridl3_rightcol {
    float: left;
    width: 170px;
    position: relative;
    left: 0px;
    overflow: hidden;
}

#gridl3_content {
    margin-right: 340px;
}
</style>

<div id="gridl3_container">
    <div id="gridl3_midshift">
        <div id="gridl3_rightshift">
            <div id="gridl3_midmask">
                <div id="gridl3_midcol">
                    <div id="gridl3_content">
                        <ul class="list_no_decoration" id="widgetlist_column2">$column[2]</ul>
                    </div>
                </div>
            </div>
            <div id="gridl3_leftcol">
                <ul class="list_no_decoration" id="widgetlist_column1">$column[1]</ul>
            </div>
            <div id="gridl3_rightcol">
                <ul class="list_no_decoration" id="widgetlist_column3">$column[3]</ul>
            </div>
        </div>
    </div>
</div>

I am trying to figure out how to put just a simple forum list in the left column on the CMS page. I see the sections JS type widget, but not exactly what I am looking for. I just want to put a forum list with each name being a link to the correct forum. Any idea how to do that? I know I have seen it before.
