HELP! Forum randomly stopped working after 2 years!
Woke up today and my forum is not working! You can login still through the admin panel, but the site isn't showing. I have had this forum for 2 years, never once switched hosts, no modifications of any kind since last summer... so this is completely random. Any help would be greatly appreciated I need this thing back up ASAP and have never seen this problem before!

You are receiving a weird error. Check your error logs, contact your host and check out the vBulletin manual.

I'm on hold with the host, any idea what it could be?

weird - if you view the html source of the page, it's starting to send the page but it stops. Since sending the page is the last thing vBulletin does, my guess is that it's not vBulletin. I would guess your host changed something on you. But I don't really know.
I think calling them is the right move. ETA: i just realized you said you could log in through the ACP, so maybe that means it *is* vBulletin after all (since the web server must be working). I don't know. |

Im on the phone with them but they claim nothing has changed. Any ideas of what I should say?

I don't, sorry. Anyone?
Looking at the logs was a good idea - server, db, etc. I noticed that I got 16934 bytes back, which is suspiciously like 16384 (a power of 2) + 550, like maybe somewhere along the line it was only able to handle 16384 bytes. I have no idea why that would be or if it's significant. |

I would just tell them to fix the problem or you're moving to a new host. Check all the error logs and post them here, someone will be able to interpret errors better than me .

We coudln't figure out the problem - I was able to restore the site from an automatic backup done last night. For now it's working. That tells me that the host probably didn't change any settings, right?
I'm wondering if there was some sort of hacking attempt. The registered users were set to "HTML : ON" and i definitely didn't have that. if that setting was on, would it be possible for someone to post a malicious script that would cause the homepage and entire site from working? I'm running on 3.7.5 |

If the HTML setting was turned on, then it could have been a hack.
It is recommended upgrading your vB board to at least 3.8.4 PL2 for security protection against this. |
