This add-on will compare the new users on registration with the data from botscout (botscout is a big botdatabase)

So if the user is a bot, he'll get an errormessage instead of being registered

How it's working:
The Ip and mailadress of the user who tries to register there will be send to botscout
now botscout sends an answer and you will know whetere if its a bot or not

the provider allows 20 requests per day
For more you have to organize a API key which you can get at www.botscout.com/getkey
in the VB Settings by the Userregistry options you have to enter the key(if you have one)

The second function against bots is the timecheck.
This modification is checking the timedifferenz between the call of the registerform and the submiting.
If it is sent to fast, you can be sure that it's a bot.

In the dontuploadfolder you'll find the english language file.

You'll find the seetings in the acp -> vBulletin Options ->User Registration Options

German Info: http://ragtek.org/blog/vbulletin/rag...egister-check/

You have to edit the register Template not the file!

Thanks for a nice mod.
Installed and seems to be working. But help?
I think I'm supposed to upload the language file in the dontupload folder?
And tell it to overwrite/ignore versions? Even though it's in the dont folder? My documentation said nothing about a langauage file- and now my acp stuff about it is in German.
Also, I'm missing something. I can't find where to go to look up my stats. help?

Good Question

I think because botscout will not check after 300, you'll get a false answer and the users would not be possible to complete the registration.

It would be possible to contact botscout to got a "commercial account" (don't know how they exactly call it)

Do I only put the api key in via admincp or should I add it to the product-ragtek_botscout.xml also?

Although it appears to work, I'm not getting the emails from botscout when a user is refused.

I was getting the emails from botscout when I used it an a manual patch in vbulletin.

Ahhh, I'll answer my own question...

the BotScout.php I used before was configarable for this so thats where I was getting my emails from (I forgot I did this)...

Code:
// send email notices when a bot is stopped?
// use '1' to send, '0' to skip.
$send_alerts = '1';

// if sending alerts, send them to what email address?
$toText = "me@domain.com";
How about adding this feature to your plugin? That would be a cool addon.

Marked as installed, seems to work well!

OK

I tried installing botscout manually before I saw this plugin, adding botscout manually gave the option for auto emails to tell me a bot had been refused.

But I found botscout manual addon for me broke new user signups and they didn't get email confimation as a new user, so I deleted the manual addon.

This was BEFORE I tried the ragtek plugin.......

I now use the botscout ragtek plugin, and it works great, I don't have new user sign up problems at all now.

But, it would be cool if I got auto emails telling me the plugin refused bots trying to sign up?

Can this be done ragteck?

Danke
Canron

Sorry, but i don't see a sense for a mail.
Why anybody would want to get 1-200 mails per day with an stupid info (=> a bot was stopped entering your board)

On the botscout page you can see the stats. Isn't that enought?
But it wouldn't be hard to implement it.
