Just doing an upgrade from 3.6 to 3.8 and I am trying a new tactic.
Usually I just do the upgrade having backed up the db, but this time I have decided the forum needs a cleanout of files/folders etc so I am going to run the forum on 2 separate sites (dev site) then switch it over.
I have the forum installed on both sites, and it's working fine but I want to copy over the db and point the new forum to the old db whilst I do the work to test it. I have done a dump of the db (1.5 gig approx) but if I restore it will have the same name, so I can't point it as a seperate one. I can't edit the .sql file cos it's too big to open on the server (it crashes on a 1.5 gig txt file) Any ideas how I can copy over the db to a different name, and point my new vb to it. To sum up 2 sites on 2 db's one db copied from the other with a different name obviously. I am running on a windows machine. |
