As your website grows and you get members that enjoying helping you and your website / forum, You may feels as more member register you can upgrade your trusted members with a little extra power to moderate,
It all depends on the website and friendships you make with your website. No website gets moderators to hire (never heard of it) As your website does grow you will be able to pick out the best people who are willing to help you out and help the website. |

If you just started your website, chances are it's not super active. You need to wait. Once you're getting multiple active people register daily, and get some good content on your forums, then you bump up the good user(s) to help you. I've seen a forum start off (having 0 posts to start) and already has 6 moderators, and 2 administrators!
You never want staff to out number the active community. |

I have a few friends that I know moderating my forums. But most of time, I wait until I reach a lot of posts and the staff can't cope. Then I appoint some extra staff or ask the current staff to be more active on the forums.
Hiring moderators for money, doens't work at all. |

Exactly what they all said.
I looked at your forum and I think you have a great idea (mainly because I have the same forum for my town.) But to help build a more active member base, change it up a bit so that its focused more on Orlando topics than generic topics. For example, on my board, I have a forum for local events (that I welcome local promotors to post in - for now. Eventually, this will become a paid sponsorship.), local sports (college, semi-pro and pro), local news (dedicated only towards my town), etc... I can go on and on but I think you get my drift. Just some C&C. Good luck!!! |

My moderators are long time members of my forum. There is no way I would let a new person come in and become a moderator.
