Proxy IP to real IP conversion · **Released**: 12-17-2007

This hack makes the forum always use the members real ip when a proxy is detected, meaning that all existing ip functions should continue to work, basically ignoring the proxy server (other than recording it's presence).

i.e.

* The real ip (or host) is displayed in the who's online page.
* The real and proxy server ip's are accesible for each post, the button is red for members using a proxy server.
* The real ip is searchable in the admin/mod cp (but not the proxy ip).
* The real ip can be banned by admins.

etc etc ......

Note: Obviously this hack relies on the proxy server passing the correct http variables to allow detection.

If a proxy is detected, then a red ip icon is displayed instead of the standard one. This mod will also detect if the ipinfo hack is installed and adjust itself to call the ipinfo code.

v3.7.001 : Initial release for vbulletin 3.7 beta.
v3.7.002 : Fix px.gif - Update install data for 3.7.
v3.7.003 : Installation Code Updated.

Remember that this modification involves changes to the class_core.php file - if you upgrade your vbulletin, you must reapply those changes.

Whats the difference between "Real ip detection v3.7.003" and this one and is it necessary to switch ?

There is no difference other than you can only install 3.7.003 on vb 3.7.

Hi. I am actually trying to install this mod due to my upgrade to 3.8 until I can get everything working the way I want it. I used the uninstall option from the aCP, and reverted my class_core.php file to the updated version.

However, when I try to click on a users IP address, I get an error that says:

Could not find phrase 'thread_display_proxyip'.

How do I completely uninstall this mod? I have searched tons of php files, templates and phrases but I cannot find a solution to get it back to default Vb ip checks.

Any advice would be sound.

The only way to get that message is if the product is not actually uninstalled. Its generated by code using the threadmanage_getip hook.

Yeah, I sorta tracked that down, but I am no expert in php....

Like I said, I reverted all php files mentioned in the install file and uninstalled it from the adminCP. Any advice on how to track this down?

Have you looked at your plugins in the ACP, you must still have something installed, perhaps an older version ?
