Default Style first or MODs first

Hi All,

I have been wondering whether i should install a style first and then the start adding the MODS or should i install all the MODs first and then choose the styles later.

I am asking this because some designer says their service will not include the modded parts.
And i am sure i am gonna need someone to install the skins. I have done quite a few mods and am in a dilemma as to what to do first.

Please help. Thank You.

Normaly, i would install the styles first and then the mods because many need template modifications, so you need to edit the templates in all your styles.

But there's a second method
you could use tms then it's important to install first tms.

It's a bit of a catch 22. Even if you did install the scripts first (which ragtek stated) may need template edits. the scripts themselves may need styling in the way of images, gradients and cat headers applied to them.

Most of the scripts I install with some needing styling to conform with the style I designed. Your best bet would be to experiment first and create a child style of the style you want to put in place then apply the scripts.

Eitherway, you may still need to design or hire a designer to make the minor touchups to keep the scripts install consistent with your style and put the necessary code in place within these scripts/templates.

I know 99% of the scripts I installed and products needed direct modification so no matter what method you opt for you may still need a designer/coder to pull certain images from that style unless you can do this all yourself.

Thank you both,

Yes Shelly, I could understand from your jargon what exactly i am going to do.. I am heading straight to a designer. But i don't understand one thing. Does the modifications that you've just mentioned included in their professional installment service or am i suppose to opt for a custom design?

I really like a design RaidArena by vbskinworkz but will have to change the color schemes to lighten up the tone. Am I asking too much for the service i am paying for? or is it OKAY to do that?

this is possibly the best advice I can give.

Using one of the styling providers a reputable service is paramount. It's the after support that matters so bare that in mind. Onto the technical side.

Almost all styling providers don't supply all the psds, source files like the tcat headers/thead gradients etc so seeing as you mentioned about colourizing some parts it may be best to ask if the psd for the actuall style is included so direct alterations can be made without colourizing via the format it was saved to (png, gif jpeg etc) colour shifts are fine if made directly from a source file image but if your making colour shifts from formats such as png, gif, jpeg etc they can and do look saturated and washed out.

Normally, the styling provider will provide the psds for the button sets, Logo and a few tidbits but defientely ask for all source files. You'll find that most colourization can be done via the styles main css system but for imagery you'll have to have the source files/psd file.

You can ask them to provide a service if you feel that your not upto the task but bare in mind this kind of service your asking for will cost more than the actual style itself. Your now delving into custom work that will normally be charged to you by the designer by the hour or he/she may give you a overall pricing for the work you require.

I don't know much about the styling provider you mentioned so I can't really say what kind of service they provide or how good they are but as I always say it never hurts to ask.

Hopefully, that will give you a little insight on what steps to make and goodluck with the style and coding.

edit: Did you mean vbskinworks raid arena style? That's the only style I can see on vbskinworks. I'm not sure ryan does custom work but like I said it doesn't hurt to ask. Register up and ask him and he'll reply to you promptly what he can will/will not do.
