Although there are many useful Mods available for vBulletin, I'm trying to pin down a small group of the most useful and reliably supported ones for a new Blog style type Forum I'm setting up. Aside from the obvious Mods for user input, there is advertisement, security and admin issues to also consider. Also, with an eye on the upcoming VB4.0
What are the five or so most useful that you have found for your core installation? |

What is usefull for 1 maybe useless for soemone else.
Only 1 suggestion: Only install the mod's that you need on your forum. From a security POV less modifications is better. |

like others said install less MODs for security but if you really want to install the most useful MODs you can click on the installs button in the MOD section and you will see a list of MODs from top to bottom that other users have installed like 4000 times This MOD is installed and 3000 times another mod is installed so you can have an idea what other users think about this MOD

Right, the number of installs is the answer to your question. But really, once a mod gets enough installs, the VB team should take the hint and build that mod into the base system. Right now it's unlikely you'll want more than maybe 20-30.
Don't forget though - some mods don't work at all, and some will just break things. The staff here will only remove a mod if it's been shown to be a security risk. So you have to read through all the pages of a mod to see what people are experiencing. |

Please be aware that the number of installs does not say anything about the quality of the code of a modification, nor does it say anything about the security of it.
