I need to restrict folder access for forum users

I need to restrict folder access, for forum users, to a two new folders called (for example) newfolder_x andnewfolder_y in the root directory. They will hold large graphic files too large for database backup.

Registered user can download from newfolder_x.

Subscribed Users can download from newfolder_x andnewfolder_y.

Administrator, Moderator and Super Moderatos can download fromnewfolder_x andnewfolder_y.

All other users cannot access newfolder_x andnewfolder_y.

Is this possible, and how do I do it?
