First of all I'm not sure if this thread should be in General vBulletin Discussions or in Programming Discussions, feel free to move it and I apologize if it was posted in the wrong place.
I run a vB 3.8x site (link); we converted from ipb 2.36 back in February. vB has been amazing for our site ever since the conversion. We love the community, features, and the overall reduction in server load (well written software, more stable database). My question; there are a couple of cool features that ipb has and I was wondering if it would be possible to add these functions to vB: #1, member is posting, name goes to italics: this is from ipb2.36 ![]() in 2.36 a member who is in the middle of posting is shown with their username in italics and a dotted underline under the name (hard to see) this is from ipb3.0: ![]() in 3.0 a member who is in the middle of posting is shown with their username in just italics. (see member "Val") This is not that big of a deal but it can be cool to see who is about to make a post while you are reading a thread. #2, last click link I love how vB puts the "New Posts" link at the top of all screens in the newbar. In ipb you have to go to bommon of forumhome to click on "Today's active content". When watching my site I am usually spamming the "New Posts" button to follow multiple conversations. Ipb also has the "last click" button that shows what people are actually doing. This can be great if you are waiting for a member to read and reply to a PM. Or if you are wanting to see who is actually visiting what thread. ![]() I know vB is aware of this info because when you go to "Public Profile -> Statistics -> Current Activity" you can see basically the same thing on a user-per-user basis. Would it be possible to create a "last click" link feature so that you can see what all current users and guests are currently viewing/doing? |

1. Nice feature! I haven't seen a mod for that, but maybe someone will work on one.
2. Go to the online.php page and you will see a list of all Currently Active Users and their current/last activity. |

Wow i never new that online.php was right there at the bottom of forumhome, thanks for the tip!
The other one is not as big of a deal for me, I love being able to track member movement though ![]() |
