Forum invasion to a point where no longer functional

Hi,

My name is Nick O'Hara and I run a vbulletin forum on my website. I'm not very computer minded so I struggle to understand a lot of the technical details.

I have two problems with the software...

1) I appear to have "database" errors in my set up.
2) My forum has been invaded by spam to a degree that it can no longer function.

I have had four different IT companies try to fix both of these problems and none of them have any success. So here I am, on to you guys.

Please understand that I have very limited knowledge of computers and how all this works so please give it to me in very simple lay terms.

I have contacted vbulletin.com re fixing this and had no success their either. This is the link with the trail of correspondance with vbulletin.com....

First thing you need to do is disable your mods and then see if you can get into the admin cp.
Note: To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit config.php and add this line right under <?php

Hi Lynne,

Thanks for your response to my problem. I have extreamly limited knowledge of all this and really am at a loss regarding fixing it. The people who built my website have said they cant fix it and the people i bought the frum from (vbulletin.com) said they dont provide a repair service. I've tried very hard to understand how it works but am just way out of my depth.

Is there anyone out there who provides a repair sevice for this? I just don't see any other way of getting this worked out

You may post in Requests For Paid Services if what you are looking for is to pay someone to do something for you. I don't really understand what you are trying to do. Turning off plugins through the method I just mentioned is a pretty standard thing to do if you are trying to debug your forum. If you install any modifications at all, you are going to want to learn how to do that if something goes wrong. (And I would guess you may want to install some mods to prevent all that spam.)

... and all the current spam posts should be "Deleted as Spam" and those ID banned.

Hi Lynne,

Thanks. I posted in the "requests for paid services" as you advised me. A number of people did contact me and were quite helpfull. One particular guy appeared very knowledgable and fair. He has agreed to take on the work and will explain step by step what I need to learn.
