Default how to remove the capitalization of a tag word

Quote:
Marcel Lee :

My board is (apparently) set so that if you enter a word like "This" as a tag word, delete it, then try to enter the same word like "this" as a tag word, "this" will always appear as "This".

How do I fix that?

I suspect that is intentional. If you want to make tags case-sensitive then you need to modify the code. If you have some coding ability then you can post on www.vbulletin.org for help with this.

I dont necessarily want to make tags case-sensitive. I'm not trying to tag both "this" and "This" at the same time. I'm simply trying to figure-out how to stop the board from automatically changing one to the other.

In other words, the board obviously stored "This" in its memory when I first made the tag; so that, even after all "This" tags have been deleted, a new "this" tag automatically becomes "This". I'm just trying to figure-out how to stop it from doing that.

I shouldn't have to modify any codes. It should be a matter of simply clearing a cache or something like that, because the board didn't start changing "this" to "This" until I made "This" a tag.

Do you understand what I'm saying??

That still requires modifying the code.

You could do - vboptions > tagging > force tags to be lower case > yes

if you want just some words to lowercase than u can just add them manually. Because if you set them all to lower case than they all will be appear in lower case

I'm not really sure exactly what you are asking for. Are you simply deleting the tag from a thread or through the admin cp? When I have deleted a tag through the admin cp > tagging page, I never have it show up again (unless someone makes that tag again, but it doesn't show up in the suggested tags that popup below the tag box).

I was going to say "I dont know why it's so hard for you to understand the problem I'm having" and "I dont know if I can explain it much clearer than I already have", but you've actually helped solve my problem; perhaps inadvertently, but you helped solved it nonetheless.

See, I didn't know we could delete tags via the admin control panel and didn't think to check until you mentioned it in your post. I thought all we could do was delete every tag manually.

So what I originally did was manually delete all the "This" tags in an attempt to make "this" tags instead, but; even after deleting all the "This" tags; they came-up as "This" instead of "this".

Now, after deleting "This" via admin cp, I'm able to add "this" tags without a problem.

What's interesting in regards to customer support at vBulletin.com is that, though I explained the problem quite clearly, Jack Bunce automatically sent me here; claiming it "requires modifying the code", which I figured was a bunch of crock.

Anyway, thanks.

I'm glad you got it resolved.

It actually kinda sounds like you want some sort of modification done when you read the first post, which is probably why Jake sent you here. I found this modification useful in managing the tags on my site - ACP Tag Manager
