Well as someone who doesn't currently have healthcare of any kind, I am all for reforming and a national plan to help people get healthcare. I don't want free healthcare, just affordable healthcare. The recent credit mess and the subsequent weakening of the British Pound however made it impossible to continue the $1500 a month premium for healthcare insurance for my family. While the pound is currently improving, I doubt I'll be able to re-establish healthcare coverage within the next 18 months which makes it all the more difficult. The reason being is for the last year we had to eat through our savings and no longer have the funds for the deductibles should we require hospitalization.
Without having healthcare insurance, we can just sign a paper saying we are unable to pay and not pay for the hospital bill at all. However that doesn't cover preventative care or regular checkups.
