What's the best way to flag a POST??

Hello...

What's the best way to flag a post?? What I want to do is, mark a certain post in a thread as featured, so I can use this flag somewhere else to display the featured posts.. One way I can imagine is to add a new column to the posts table, but as Im new to vbulletin (at all, specially for modifications) Im not sure if this is the best way to accomplish that. Is it a good practice to add new columns to vb tables? Another idea is to create a new table to map all featured posts.
Well, resuming, I need a way to add way to mark a post in a way I can use later, and if possible to make the RSS feeds to be able to use it as well. Any ideas?

Either way has its own pros and cons. On one hand, you'd be loading that data nearly every time posts are fetched. On the other, you'd need to join your own table to get the data. As such, you need to weigh in which is the best option for you. In this case, going for the separate table is probably a good idea, as you'll only need that data sparingly.
