Default Proposition about new kind of mods rating...

Hello this is post to admins of this forum

I love great plugins. But there is so many of those... It's great that I can order those by Installs, ratings, and downloads.

Ratings are god, but too few users use it, and looking on some posts in mods I believe that many people rates author nod the mod...

Previously I was searching something good ordering by downloads - but You know sometimes you thing that it is great, download and then it appears to be somesthing else than You expected. I had it too often, so...

So I started looking by Installs. And this is great! Obviously You did a great job motivating people to mark as installed - mail if someone download and doesn't mark. Also additional info like - upgrade, or installed when I'm looking on mods. Really great!

But I'm still not satisfied. You know - when some really great new mod appears - it's really on the bottom of Installs and downloads rating. So my proposal is to be able to sort by new rating - and i think it should be install rate: number of installs, divided by number of unique views, multiple by 100%. This will give exact rights to new ald old mods.

I.e. some new mod was seen by 100 people and 20 of them install it - I see that install rate is 20%. Some very old mod can be installed by 200 peoples, but it was checked by 100 000 peoples and it's install rate is only 0,2%. On installs it is better 10 times, but really on install rate it is worst 100 times!!!

I know that we will have never ideal system. Bu for me this sounds pretty good And I know that new one which will have one visit and one install have 100% and is on the top of the list - GREAT this is it - now many people will se it, and install it or not. If it's week then it will be on the top only for seconds, because people will see it and leave it, but if it's good then it will stay high because of high install rate - even that it is new one. New one but great one!

Think about it...

And one more thing - because new mods can skip on the scale too much (1:1 =100%, 1:2 = 50%; 2:3 = 75%) you can avoid this behavior by updating rate for every X views. So new one has 100% but after i.e. 100 or 1000 (you know better) views, install rating is updated and then it is really high, usual, or really bad...

Good example form new mods.

Select Postbit had 1,277 views and was installed by only 17 people.
Shared Admin Notes had pretty same number of views (1,220) and was installed by 63 people.

Having install rate would tell which one is statistically more useful...
