One of the things that is great about FaceBook, is whenever your friends post an item, it shows up on your page.
So when one sees someone posting a photo of their new truck, every truck enthusiast often posts a response. You get to see what all your friends are posting, and when a thread of common interest occurs, it results in added participation. Also, members can create communities and invite others to join, and that drives posts. Same goes for images and now they do a pretty good job of playing uploaded HD videos. I know there is a hack here so those with Facebook memberships can log onto your vB community with no additional log info required, but it looks like the hack is buggy and rather unsupported. Now I understand codes don't make $ from freebies, BUT, I would rather pay than get no support. Having said that, I would like to hear from anyone how they modded their vB so it has Facebook like stuff that drives members to post. |

facebook can never win vbulletin. just my 2 cents.
why? anonymity. facebook and vbulletin will co-exist for a very long time. in fact i dont foresee any convergence in the future. |

Convergence is already taking place with Facebook integration mods, such as members can log into vB with their FB username and password.
Facebook is smoking even MySpace, and FB is adopting some of the features of Twitter, showing they can adapt. It is just that some of the above mentioned Facebook features are part of why they drive posts when "friends" see the activity of friends, something that can use some improvement on vb. So hack suggestions? |
