I have a few questions...anyone help?! Thanks! :D
I have two questions...
1. I would like to have a login system on my website, and then make certain pages for users only but others for anyone to see. I know the forum has its own login system, is there anyway to use that for the entire site, OR create my own and remove that system? I would prefer to not have two... If I can create my own to do this, or there is no option and I must have two, then help on creating a login system? I know it is quite complicated and confusing o_o :P Thank you! 2. I would have to have a search box on every page of my website, any idea how to create that? I appreciate all help! The website is www.chewingtext.com. It is my first website layout, ever created and only created the website on Thursday, but yeah... Any help is greatly appreciated! |

Follow this tutorial for creating your own pages and it will use the vb login system so you can allow some users and not others - [How-To] vBulletin API Basics: Creating Custom Pages & Misc.

Ahh, okay I will start doing that, thank you!
But just to make sure, I can use the VB system on the entire website? |

Sure, as long as your path to the vbulletin files is correct. You may have to do a chdir prior to including the files.

Hmm, I am trying and I am lost now...
Do I have to do everyone on the page? I did the first portion, powered script in my dreamweaver, and I am just lost o_o Didnt do much...lol. Do I just do one of the listed on that tutorial? lol Sorry if I sound stupid! --------------- Added [DATE]1244505909[/DATE] at [TIME]1244505909[/TIME] --------------- I think I found the portion I would need to use...but I dont know what he is using to change. I am not sure where to find the original to alter, unless I would need to do all the steps, in which case that makes no sense o_O |

I'm not sure what you mean. There are 4 steps to his article - copy his php file, change the lines where it says to in the comments, do your navbits, and then create your template. You would then add all your custom code for your pages after it says Start Main script and before the navbits.
If you are outside of the vbulletin directory, then you should read that part of his article also. He also has a part about limiting access, which you said you wanted to do, so read that part also. |

So let me see if I get this...
Do the first four steps...that is needed for anything else on the page. Then if I want to do anything else on the page, just follow those instructions? I just do all of this on my website pages, or do I have to go and do them within vB? Just do them in vB when he states to go in there? lol --------------- Added [DATE]1244506710[/DATE] at [TIME]1244506710[/TIME] --------------- I dont know...I am just 100% lost at this moment. In order to setup login account for my website, I have to do what he is doing? This is really for setting up a login system for the website? o_o --------------- Added [DATE]1244510740[/DATE] at [TIME]1244510740[/TIME] --------------- Not being rude, I really appreciate your help! I just do not understand that... Anyone have any other ideas or methods? |

You are confusing me now. Are you wanting to have pages that use the vbulletin login system to check a users userid and thus set up permissions on whether they can see a page or not? If so, you need to include the global.php file in your page like in the article I linked you to. I suppose you don't have to follow the rest of the article, but you would have to include global.php. The template/rest of the php in that article (under the heading Creating a Custom Script - the four steps I mentioned above) simply helps you have a page that looks like the rest of your vbulletin forums - the header, navbar, login box, footer, etc.

Not exactly have certain pages to have a login system or not.
I am looking for more for the site to have its own login system... |
