Found leaked information?
Hello,
Whilst browsing yesterday I came across some leaked information about vB 4.0. The information was posted on vB.com, but for some bizzare reason, they deleted it. Shall I report it? If so, who to? Do I send the link to a mod? Or someone at vB.com Btw, if the information is reliable i'm not happy with what vB plans! |

I saw it all. I'm not so sure I'm upset over it either. LOL My big board is going on 2 years with out a yearly renewal. Thats 120 bucks in my pocket. If I go pay 60 in yearly that should give me entitlement to 2 years of upgrades? From my better understanding there is more or at least 2 years between each major version. 2.0, 3.0, 4.0 etc. So to say that it would be unfair to charge a larger lump sum for upgrades for major versions is bunk. All that means as a site owner is that I will be entitled to MORE upgrades then I would have gotten the old way. Then a larger lump sum for a new version.
I think if you look closely it has its good points too. If vb asks me for 120 or so bucks every few years. Then I'm still breaking even. I might even get to update my boards a little more often, instead of having to kill my self with HUGE upgrades to avoid paying yearly updates. Just my .02. The new packaging sounds more then fair as well. Just thought I'd put that out there... I saw all the screenies and honestly didnt even read through most of it. I'm not worried. Just not sure why all the negativity..... |

The reason I feel negative is because of the possible descision of rising the prices, again!

So as goes everything in life. LOL inflation all around us... with our gas, bills, milk, and even the kids lunch prices went up last week. Its a natural economy process.
From what i understand the price only goes up 15$... really! 15$ bucks? Thats gonna KILL me! *note sarcasm* And the new package is proposed to charge 90 more dollars but that gives you EVERYTHING. projects, the new CMS and the blogs. Something that has a reasonable value of 180$ buy its self. I'm still not seeing what the big deal is. Do you know how GREAT it will be not to have to pay that yearly fee anymore. That will MORE then make up for any added or proposed increases for major releases. After all, coding this stuff and keeping it secure is expensive. Sure, cheaper is better but I'm a realist. --------------- Added [DATE]1242661656[/DATE] at [TIME]1242661656[/TIME] --------------- What will be nice is if they can come up with a reasonable upgrade amount for licensed owners to upgrade to the full package. The full package has a name but preggo brain is not letting me remember. LOL |

Im with UNDERCODERMOM.
I think its totally worth it. I read it as good news. $15 for free updates for the life of that series... ie 4.0, 5.0 etc. ITS A DEAL. Some people read $15 and crap their pants. Read what you get with it. |
