How could I allow members to hide a specific, pre-defined ( by admin ) forum? Could I use custom profile fields?

You could go about it the opposite way... by default, the users don't see the forum. If they want to see it, they join a usergroup that you create that has access to that forum.

Thanks for the reply, Lynne. The case is, I started a teen forum and I want those teens who don't want to see the sex forum to be able to disable it. I think it'd be a little confusing to use usergroups for this, don't you think? It'd be best if users could simply go to their User CP and find a Yes / No select box for 'Display Sex Forum?' with Yes as default. Could I not use custom profile fields and make some clumsy, yet simple and effective template changes to get what I want?

Well, I was going to suggest what Lynne did. What you do, is make the "sex board" as hidden. In order to see it, you must have a certain secondary usergroup.
All you do is create a usergroup that is able to see the sex board. Allow it to be joinable. The users can go to their UserCP, and click "join group", giving them the secondary usergroup, thus giving them access. |

I think what I and BlueNinjaGo suggested is the best way, however there is also this - https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...e+forum+filter
