Prevent view threads basing on profile field

I am thinking about making a additional user group based on profile field. And I found this module Additional Usergroup based on profile field

But that module is plugin of version 3.0.7, so I don't know it may run on my forum (version 3.7.2). Hope to your help?

And more, may I adjust the view permission of particular GroupID for the threads (not forums)?
