I have a troublesome user and I want to pic and lock in an avatar for him. Im actually having trouble even blocking him from using one. The group he is a part of (registered users) has custom avatar permission. I even greated another group called blocked avitars and didnt give that group avatar permission. I moved him to that secondary group and he can still post an avatar. I set the user to keep custom avatar to NO if user changes group. How do I lock in an avitar for him or keep him from putting one up after I change it?

If you have it set to "no", then I would believe so.

When looking at permissions, a Yes overrides a No. You cannot take away priveleges with usergroups, you can only give them more.

So was I wrong? I never really tried to lock a user's avatar, but I would assume that's how it's done... I don't want to give bad advice...

Ok hes behaving now but in case he acts up again.
Can I take away his avatar priveledges while hes a memeber of registered users? If no will adding him to a secondary usergroup with no avatar permissions handle it.? If yes then what do I set the admin overide options to with respect to "Keep custom Avatar" Yes or no I dont want him to be able to load an avatar once I move him to the secondary group. |

You would need to make a new group for him rather than a secondary one, because the permissions from Registered Users will override the permissions for the secondary one. As far as I'm aware secondary groups are really for adding permissions, not removing them.
Just base a new group off registered users, untick the 'can use avatar option' (or make the file size limit stupidly small) and then put him in that group. |

As Lynne and Tom both said, if you add a secondary usergroup, it won't take away permissions.
But if I was you, I'd just set "keep custom avatar" to "yes" and see if that works. |
