Actually, if you use phpMyAdmin, just go to the table and select Operations and then you can change the auto-increment number.

I know where TC is coming from.... I wish my forums didn't have gaps in their ID numbers... but it's no where near worth it to even think about changing it for me... we have so many mods/hacks that depend on forum ID's, not to mention all the other issues the previous posters listed....

I just have to cringe when I see it...
