Professional Input For My Site
I created a site, on a whim, and want some input from a variety of people. I got to talking with some friends about hot/controversial topics, and thought it would be interesting to see how people felt about them, and the reasoning behind their stance. I wanted a place where there would be little to no moderation (my only rules, keep it PG-13, and no personal attacks), and where we could have a weekly featured debate, along with member generated debates.
A couple of ideas I've been thinking about are a way to have users vote for the best post on the featured debate, and have the two best opposing views somehow posted in a block with the original poll and topic. I'd be greatly appreciative of anyone looking at my site and giving me some honest feedback. You dont have to join or anything, but I think it would be good to get some input from those of you that build/run sites for a living. http://masdebaters.com |

Your landing page needs a link to the forum. I'am sitting here looking at your home page and wondering "where is the forum"???
The color of the regular text needs to stand oput on the home page a little more. Good simple layout of the forum sections. Meta description and meta keywords have been edited with your own inforamtion. You may want to disable public viewing of member profiles - http://forum.masdebaters.com/member.php?u=7 Your using image verification, which is good. But with 4 images there is still a 25 percent chance that the bot will pick the right image. After the image verification, you should be using reCapthca instead of Captcha. |

Outstanding input, thank you very much for taking the time to help me out.
I have a link to the forum in the navbar, but I didnt realize that it doesnt show up until you are logged in, so I need to figure that out. I'll add ReCaptcha tonight. thanks again. --------------- Added 21 Feb 2009 at 19:57 --------------- I've added everything except a link to the forums when someone who is not logged in visits the VBAdvanced page, but I cant figure that one out. ReCaptcha.....is there a version for 3.8? |

ReCaptcha is built into VB 3.8 - its in the admin control panel - left column - human verification options. And then edit the member registration options and pick ReCaptcha instead of Captcha.
You have to sign up for an account at ReCaptcha.com and get your keys. But that is no big deal. |

Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it.
I've been beating my head against the wall all week.....I'm trying to think about promotion of the site. I've submitted it to all the search engines. but I'm thinking of places besides Digg to submit our news (new topics), and a way to get the word out, other than DIGG. |

Go find your forum link and make sure there isn't any <if condition="$show[member]"> before it. if so move it to above that |
