Users sharing username and login

Hello,, I am needing something to stop a single user being on my site more than once,, the problem is i think i have someone who is giving there freinds there login info and 6 of them are on at the same time under one name playing arcade games and making it impossible to be beaten as the arcade champ by a single person,, i looked around and didnt see anything for that or if there is a setting in vb 3.8 to stop it

no possible solution. it's like if your phone provider try to block you from sharing your cellphone with your friends...

if it's only one member, simply let him go... if it's your entire forum, the solution is to close the arcade...

you could have a hack that force users to login from IP adress... but if you have dynamic IP, you are stuck... (30% of the whole internet is based on static, the others can change IP anytime, you would lock all your members out)

Darnit,, that stinks,, thanks for the help nexialys...

the best thing would be to use a Points system that force people to pay to play... they have to participate on your forum to gain points, and you are the one to fix a price for each game played... members have to pay X per game, so that member who is sharing his account would have to post a lot to be able to let his friends play on his account...

even if the points are used only for the arcade, it worth it sometimes... remember your bandwidth, you pay for it.

As mentioned by nex, majority of the people connected to the internet have dynamic IPs (and why wouldn't you, you have to pay extra for the pleasure of a static IP here).

yes, that's true, but it's not like the offending user and his cronies will be connecting to a different dynamic IP unless they are connecting via AOL or some other proxy type.

I think it would be a good stop gap for a few days and then remove it.

Turn it on as needed.

Or since it is known that he's abusing the login, give him an infraction and tell him that he's violating board policy. Continue to give him infractions. Eventually he either shapes up or gets banned.
