Database Upload Error
Hi,
I wanted to upload a database from my old hosting provider but received the error below. Error SQL query: -- -- Database: `plazma_forum` -- -- -------------------------------------------------------- -- -- Table structure for table `access` -- DROP TABLE IF EXISTS `access` ; MySQL said: Documentation #1046 - No database selected The entire database is about 23megabytes. Also, is there a way to copy the database directly from one server to another, without having to download to computer and upload it? BTW, i tried to upload via phpmyadmin, i did export and then import where needed. Thank You |

Make sure you have created a database on the account and clicked into that database in phpMyAdmin before clicking "Import".

Oooh! So I should have created a database called "plazma_forum" and a user for that database right?
Also, can I create a different name for this database since it was from old server and name is from old subdomain. Or maybe I can change the name somehow after I upload the database with its original name? Thank You |

You just need to create a database for the data to go into, the name does not matter.

That error is caused by a low "maximum packet size" setting. This is handled inside the MySQL configuration file, and can usually only be changed if you have root access into the server.
