How can I set the system so that only folks 18 and over are allowed to join?

1. Go to ACP / vBulletion Options / User Registration Option, set COPPA to disallow registrations for users < 13
2. In register.php FIND PHP Code:
3. Change phrase under_thirteen_registration_denied to reflect that users must be 18 However, this will obviously not keep users that are < 18 from signing up. |

If you want a system that is fully compliant (at least with German law), you must personally identify your members (check their ID card) and use certificates stored on secure devices (Smartcard, USB PersonalID, etc.) to authenticate them.

Thanks Andreas! In looking over register.php I see more instances of 13 than this alone. I went ahead and changed them all to 18 so I hope that won't blow anything up or anything. Everything seems fine so far...
I run a serious occult discussion forum and really want kids to stay the hell away as much as possible. Even though we cannot guarantee age this way, it goes a long way towards making it known that kids don't really belong in that environment... So thanks again! |
