Join Usergroup With Password

This might be a mod or "where to find it" question, but is there anyway to allow people to join a usergroup if they have a password?

Let's say I have a warcraft guild site, and I want people to be easily able to make themselves a member of the Guild Member usergroup, can I make the group have a password?

No but you can create a public usergroup and set up a user who can get notifications of new members and approve / deny them.

If you have a bunch of groups like this, I would recommend using the social groups instead.

No, it's just one usergroup.

I know a website called them LaunchCodes or something like that, if you had the password, you were put into the usergroup.

There is a mod floating around here somewhere where a person can enter a value (password?) into a profile field and that would automatically add them to a usergroup.
