Hi, after updating to 3.8.0 my forums header has gone all wierd and im not sure why or how to fix it?

Im using BlackTeal skin and hopefully the attached picture will speak for itself.

It's not possible to fix your problem just by seeing the issue

The containers for the navbar have changed size, but unsure why/how since I don't know how they're setup.

Best spot to ask is in the thread for the skin itself.

Would posting the navbar code help atall? or not?

When you first login to your admin panel, see that message about:

Out-of-Date Custom Templates Found!

Click here to view these templates!

Either update your template by hand, or go visit the theme designer for an update for your theme to work with 3.8
