Default Anyone else holding off upgrades?

I'm staying with 3.7.3 on my main forum and using my secondary forum as the one I keep up to date with upgrades.

Like you mate i use 3.7.3, I'm happy with what i've got its taken me a good couple of months to get to where i am and how i want the forum, I'm not overly busy, but happy enough to say on this version.

I guess the big question is when will i upgrade??? well the answer has to be when theres enough jusification to upgrade, With all the hassle, with mods and template edits, The changeover has to provide me with enough reasons and improvement to make it all worth while.

Might still hang on until ver4 comes out then have a massive spring clean, and install some newer hacks and edits.

My 2 cents

From many years of experience in software (over 50), I have developed the strategy to only upgrade to dot odd releases. It may not be strictly true, but generally dot even releases contain new features and all the bugs that go with them. The odd number releases are generally bug fixes for the even number ones.

Beyond that, I agree that unless you have a real need for new stuff, you stick with what you have until support is no longer provided. It is certainly much more economical of your time.

Phew! Glad I'm not the only one. Kinda surprised at the poll results. Didn't expect so many to hold off upgrades.

I think it's really important to upgrade if there is a security fix. I would never risk my forum going down for that.

I always keep up with upgrades. But only supported ones and when I do not have to pay for renewal.

If it was for security then yes I would upgrade.
Otherwise, I did upgrade to 3.8 and I just got continually spammed with regards to the forums, so i soon downgraded and don't intend on upgrading again until I am sure there is no issues with spammers etc.

I doubt there is a difference between the two versions in terns of whether spammers can access your forum or not.

Most of the changes in 3.8 are to features I dont use in 3.7 anyway (social networking stuff, pictures, prefixes etc) and we already have PM quick reply via the mod here, so Im not in any hurry to move from 3.7 to 3.8.

I never upgrade to the just released version. I'll be waiting for 3.8.1 most likely. We are still on 3.6, so I'm looking forward to finally doing the next upgrade.
