I really don't know anything about the modification so I can't help with that. But, you say this started when your host 'fixed' another error. Did you ask them exactly what they did? It sounds like they might have done something on their end to break the functionality of the modification. You might want to show them the error and see if they know what it means. I can't tell if this is an error with the attachments permissions (or folder permissions) or a problem with the functions, sorry.
