Need some help with Template Modifications
I am using vbAdvanced and when I go in and create a template it will make a global template and a copy for the parent template. If I edit the parent template the changes don't migrate through to the other children templates.
So I added a link in the control panel that I can use to modify the parent template that migrates through to the other children templates but when I go to modify the template using the link I get a message telling me that the template already exists and asks if I want to save the changes. I will save the changes but the parent template reverts back to the global template. I am using: Code:
template.php?&do=add&dostyleid=5&title=adv_portal_industry9&expandset=5 Is there a way to this via a link that will allow you to modify instead of add the template and it retains the changes to the global as well as the parent and the children templates? It gives me the same results whether I use dostyleid=-1 or dostyleid=5. Thanks, Parker |

You may want to ask if at vBAdvanced.com sounds like a problem with their product.
Whenever you make changes to a parent style in vBulletin, those changes are passed down to children templates, unless those templates are previously modified (show up red) |

FRDS:
The issue is not with vbAdvanced. Like I said I wrote a link as above and while it migrates everything through to the children templates as it should it doesn't update the parent template so you can review the changes you just made to it. If I go in and manually edit the parent template it does not migrate through to children even though it is supposed to. If I modify the parent using the above link the changes migrate through to the children templates but the parent template remains with its default. What I need is a link that I can use via the Admin Control panel to modify the parent template so that the parent template keeps the changes made to it and those changes are passed on down to the children templates. |

If you do it the correct way and manually edit the parent template, you say it doesn't migrate through to the children. Is the template red in the child styles? If so, that is why it won't migrate. The template should be orange in the child styles.

Lynne:
The parent style is red and the children orange. Thanks for the feedback though. I figured it out by using Code:
template.php?&do=edit&templateid=xxxx&dostyleid=5&group=xxxx Parker |
