Check and make sure there is no registration name requirements (Regex) where it'll deny them if it doesn't meet like x letters.

Is it the option where it says minimum and maximum letters?If yes then thats all fine any other solution ?

Also check the Illegal User Names and Username Regular Expressions right under the min/max characters.
Have you tried disabling your modifications to see if the problem goes away? Note: To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit config.php and add this line right under <?php PHP Code:

Make sure you don't have anything in the Reg Ex field or whatever its called also
