Yeah, color vote is so "American" ... racism come when you make a difference... black people are proud to have one of them on the top, white people are proud to have elected the first non-slave to the top.... pathetic on both sides...

even Barrack never talked about his color to be a point to elect him, because he hates all sides of racism...

/me voted for Obama and plenty of other people last night in local elections.

Sure the president doesn't hold absolute power but hopefully he can spur some change here on the home front and abroad. If anything this election has shown that the people are fed up with the way the government is currently begin run. I saw plenty of people vote this go round that had never done so at any point in their life.

I don't see colour. I just see a well-educated, well-spoken and sensible man who was always going to win from the moment he threw his name into the hat

Seeing him speak really makes you realise how much of an idiot you've had in the Whitehouse for the last 8 years.

Obama got there because the americans want a change and they believe in Obama to sort out the countrys problems and believe him to be the most suitable candidate from who was running.

But did`nt you Yanks also believe in Bush at the time and got him voted into power as im pretty certain he never got there on his own

If you lived here you'd know that 99% of the population hates him (yes I pulled that number out of my ass, but it's probably closer to the true number than 0%). In fact Bush lost the popular vote last go round...remember all that re-counting?

Look... Most people in the USA are more concerned about getting through the day than they are about politics. A lot of people over here don't even vote...or hell they can't vote! I have plenty of friends that have a felony on their record and none of them are allowed to vote. ;/ Also for your information we didn't just vote for a new president last night...there were plenty of elections going...mainly ones relating to local and state governments.

There is plenty wrong with our system yes, but there is plenty of goods things in it as well. The good and the bad goes together. Everyone loves to bash Bush but we all know it wasn't just him that got us in the position we are in now.

BTW for the record I am not a god damned Yankee. I live in the south and do not want to be associated with them crazy people up North.

See? the french guy is 99% right!
I only wish this wasn't about that issue, but I live in Los Angeles, and they are still jumping, yelling, crying... and I really don't understand... since where I come from never witnessed that problem

I don't think he hates, but he avoid the topic

Troop Withdrawal has been in negotiation with the Iraqi government for some time. Already several divisions of troops have been recalled since the "surge".

You're right anyone who believes all problems will be over due to a new president elect are dreaming. However this new President has the backing of Congress for at least two years. A lot of policy change can be implemented in two years. The current government is fairly ineffective due to a lame duck president with low popularity and no backing from Congress.

While we do not know the outcome of an Obama presidency yet. We will see it in the first two years. We might know before January 20th how things will look as he starts nominating cabinet members. He has quite a pool of talented individuals to lean on and get advice from. The presidency is much more than one man in the United States, its his group of advisors and how that advice is implemented as well. Sure he is one man but if he can motivate the country to get behind him then his changes will be enacted. George W. Bush was able to accomplish this due to outside influence and terror. Once that was removed from the equation he was fairly ineffective due to his lack of motivational skills. We'll see how this will work for Obama who does have the motivational skills needed to move a people. Skills seen in other presidents like Clinton, Reagan, Kennedy, Franklin Roosevelt, Theodore Roosevelt, Lincoln, Adams and Washington. The test is to see if he will live up to his predecessors or not. If he doesn't then in four years, he could be looking for work.

As for local California elections... A couple things I voted against passed. A couple things I voted for passed. Its all give an take.
