yep u right m8 it is in beta - but i never seen the compatibility button before i actually started this thread and once i pressed it everything went back to how it was.Im quite impressed with IE8 at the moment anyway

with that said i've not attempted IE8 as outside of template/website testing I've used IE like a dozen times in 8 years tops

In Beta 1, it was an Internet Option which required restarting the entire browser. In Beta 2, its a per-site option.

I have IE8 installed, and I'm actually impressed.

It won't replace my Fox though, I can't live without Web Developer and Firebug.

Except IE8 has the features of both (and more) built in. You can view it by pressing F12 on any webpage.

Hmm I don't understand why so many vb.org people like IE, of course vbulletin's markup is a bit outdated (tables, tables and more tables for layout) so it might look ok in IE6, but still IE6 only causes layout (box model fail) and other problems. Of course IE7 is a lot better and I've heard IE8 is even better, good stuff, too bad about 70% are still using IE6..

edit: Yeah it's not 70%, I think about 70% use IE in total, was mixing that up with IE6 usage, of course it depends a lot on your audience as well, but at w3schools for example there's a 25% IE6 usage which is still quite a lot I think, considering it's a tech/web site.

Not sure who told you that, but I rarely run into IE6 users, even on old dated computers now. They're using IE7 or Firefox of some sort.

It all depends on your audience. On one of my sites (non-tech related) 37.03% of our visits come from IE6.
