your name is not easier to read or anything, people will contact you by clicking on the link, no matter the strange username...

We do not allow namechanges unless there is a very urgent reason.

PS You can not check if a name is available as not all members are listed on the Member List.

Yeah, my original name is lost. At first, vBulletin.org wasn't listed as an official site, so I gave a fake email address. Then when it became official, then I couldn't retrieve my original username.

If I remember everything correctly?
